Meet the Morans

Moran Family Photo

A Family Campground,
Generations in the Making

Century Farm Family Campground has been welcoming guests since 1996.

Originally founded by Byard and Linda Moran, the campground is still managed by family members, continuing a long tradition of stewardship on this land dating back to 1783.

Like many long-standing families in St. Martins, the Morans are known for their welcoming nature and strong community roots. In a small tourism village where visitors quickly feel at home, hospitality is not just good business; it is a way of life. Guests at Century Farm Family Campground are welcomed as part of the community.

A Shipbuilding legacy

During the 1800s, St. Martins was a thriving shipbuilding community.

Over 500 sailing ships were built in this area, and the Moran family played an active role in that maritime history. The shoreline beside Century Farm Family Campground was once alive with activity as wooden sailing vessels were constructed and launched into the Bay of Fundy.

When you stay at Century Farm Family Campground, you are not just booking a campsite. You are staying on land shaped by generations of craftsmanship, resilience, and family pride. In a community built on tourism, history, and neighbourly spirit, the Moran family continues a tradition that began in 1783 by welcoming guests to this special stretch of shoreline and making them feel at home.

Rooted in 1783

Century Farm Family Campground is located on the original land grant issued to Mathias Moran in 1783. The property has remained in the Moran family since that time, representing more than two centuries of continuous ownership along the shores of the Bay of Fundy.

Today, the property consists of approximately 100 acres of forest land and 25 acres of agricultural land. The historic homestead (pictured here and still a Moran family home!) was built in 1850 by James Moran, who hired many of the carpenters working in the shipbuilding trade at the time.

The ceilings of the home were painted by artists from Italy who were brought over on the sailing ships built in the nearby shipyards located along the beach adjacent to what is now Century Farm Family Campground.
